To the Editor:
Abortion is more than a moral issue of taking the life of an innocent as yet to be born infant. It is a viable medical procedure that a doctor and his patient should evaluate based on the physical and mental health of the patient. It should also include full disclosure of all risks for the procedure and possible future consequences. I am not in a position to pass any moral judgment on their decision. For those who have a moral issue with abortion, do you want a politician making your health decisions? I definitely do not.
The politicians have shown that they are derelict in their duties for years. When the Roe v. Wade decision was made by the Supreme Court, it required the legislators to repeal or amend all laws regarding abortion. The Supreme Court does not have the authority to create laws. Laws can only be created by the legislative body of government. They are the ones that chose to do nothing for feat of upsetting voters. Both parties have used abortion as a political tool for at least the last fifty years. It is time they acknowledge that it is a medical procedure and treat it as such.
Since the Supreme Court has no authority to create laws, why has so much emphasis been placed on abortion for this election? If taking a life through abortion is alright, why is taking a life by the death penalty wrong?
