To the Editor:
Senator Marklein and Representative Novak have both dropped the ball when it comes to the children of their districts and the state of Wisconsin. Both have voted against funding childcare counts which is a necessary way of keeping the current childcare crisis from worsening.
Representative Novak has been invited several times to our in-home daycare “Christina’s Family Daycare” in the past 7 months and we have yet to even receive an acknowledgment of the invite.
Senator Marklein did accept an invite last July and during his visit it was all about the republican legislatures agenda of adding kids and changing ratios. He would not even listen to the two parents who were here and explained how inadequate the current system is or really listen to us when we explained why the funding was necessary. Senator Marklein is currently doing job shadows of different business in his district and as of this letter he accepted no ones from with in Monroe or Green County and that includes our invite.
This truly demonstrates the lack of care from our elected officials on the topic of childcare. Over 70% of Wisconsinites, Republicans and Democrats are in favor of supporting the childcare industry as we all know that if it wasn’t for childcare providers employers would not have employees and out economy would be in the tank. Wisconsin has billions of dollars in surplus money, why not invest in our future?
The current childcare counts funding was and is Federal money. Trust me, the Federal government needs to step up to the plate as well.
Remember Childcare affordability and accessibility is on the ballot this November.
“All our elected officials work for us the citizens of the great state of Wisconsin so we must demand accountability by each and every one of them.”
To Senator Marklein and Representative Novak, “If you can’t stand the heat get out of office and let those who really want to help our district and the state of Wisconsin do the job.”
