To the Editor:

The Loaves & Fishes Community Meal program is a local nonprofit created in 2011 to bring people together for fellowship, community, and a free meal. Loaves & Fishes serves an important role for our Green County community members because it provides a monthly social outing, a free nutritious meal, and it brings volunteers together in service to our Green County community.

It has been so exciting to see community members with diverse backgrounds join together and share in this mission along with a committed board of directors to keep this great nonprofit moving forward. The Covid Pandemic presented some struggles but did not take down this group! We are back and we are excited! Thanks to some great volunteers we now have a website, www.loavesandfishesmeals.org, a Facebook page, Loaves and Fishes-Monroe, and yes, a Loaves & Fishes phone number 608-909-1555. 

The meal schedule remains the same as in the past, always on the fourth Sunday, 4 p.m.-6 p.m., and still at Grace Lutheran Church, 1025 15th Ave., Monroe. This site is handicapped accessible and the church has been most generous in allowing us to use its facilities.

Please note; Due to Cheese Days events on the 4th weekend of September, there will NOT be a September meal but we hope you will enjoy Cheese Days 2024! Follow our Facebook page for monthly updates and posts about upcoming meals.
