Donovan: Take the next step and vote
Letter To The Editor

From Paul Donovan

Monroe

To the Editor:

My name is Paul Donovan.

I am citizen of Monroe, a member of the Green County Republican Party and a citizen concerned with the lack of voting an issue every level of government in our country is facing.

I am writing this letter to you to encourage citizens to honor and appreciate the right to vote. A right that so many have given their lives for and a right that can make the difference between which road our towns, states and country will take.

Throughout my life I always have heard complaints about people who complain but don’t vote. I understood it as a kid yet I never realized the impact of the lack of voting until I became involved with in the local Republican Party. We as a society complain so much about what is wrong with our country and our elected officials. Throughout the history of our nation we have called for change and though third party candidates hardly ever win the impact of candidates such as Ross Perot and Donald Trump have shown an impact in an election when more people turn out to vote particularly the independent voters. This election will be crucial for the issues at stake and we must as a nation do more than just talk, talk, talk we must take the first step in a new direction through voting. If one thinks are elections are crooked then do two things volunteer as a poll worker and encourage others to vote, numbers will speak volumes.

Voting is a privilege that has been granted to us from those who laid down their lives for this country. I encourage every reader to consider this if voting for a change is not encouraging enough than think about voting for in honor of a veteran who gave his life for us.

I Thank You for giving me the opportunity to encourage greater voter participation this upcoming election day.
