To the Editor:
Like many others, we are horrified by the actions of Elon Musk — an unelected, unaccountable-to-voters billionaire — as he takes a wrecking ball to valuable government programs that benefit our communities and our economy.
Musk is now wading into Wisconsin politics. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Musk is providing at least $2.5 million to groups supporting Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel.
Schimel is an extremist who supports an 1849 ban on ALL abortions, even in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother. Schimel also agrees with the pardon of ALL January 6 rioters, including those who violently assaulted police officers defending our Capitol. Schimel is happy to take Musk’s money. We wonder what the billionaire, who is not known for his kindness or generosity of spirit, expects in return.
On April 1 we are voting for Schimel’s opponent, Judge Susan Crawford. As a prosecutor, Assistant Attorney General and judge, Crawford is known both for her common sense and her solid record of standing up for the rights of ordinary citizens. A vote for Susan Crawford is vote against Elon Musk.
April 1 Election Deadline
Letters to the Editor regarding races leading up to the April 1, 2025 Spring Election, which includes elections for Wisconsin State Supreme Court, city, village and school boards and referendums, need to be turned in to the Monroe Times by Sunday, March 16. The Times will publish all letters by Saturday, March 22.
As a reminder, the Times reserves the right to reject any letter.
