To the Editor:
I am writing to encourage everyone to study carefully and beyond the rhetoric and lies being told about our state Supreme Court Justice race.
It has been shouted ad nauseam that Justice Dan Kelly supports the existing state law on abortion. You have heard this so often because his opponent has 3X the campaign budget of Dan Kelly. In a small way I am trying to correct that lie.
Justice Kelly, or any judge, holds office to UPHOLD existing law — not to make new ones. It is the legislature’s job to formulate new laws concerning abortion or any issue needing attention, as this issue undoubtedly does. Until they do that, any judge is bound to uphold the law as it is presently. The demise of Roe leaves that up to each state and I have every confidence that our legislators will do their job.
I also have every confidence that Justice Dan Kelly will do his job as a jurist only. He will not legislate from the bench as his opponent desires to do.
Please look at this race carefully and you will find that Dan Kelly is very appropriate for this non-partisan position of Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice. The election is April 4th and you can vote early
P.S. Dan’s opponent also would put at risk: Voter ID, Concealed Carry, School Choice.
