Anderson: Carlson the choice for Sylvester Township
Letter To The Editor

From Anna Anderson

Monroe

To the Editor:

Isaiah Carlson has served as Sylvester Township’s County Board Supervisor for the past two years. I don’t think we could find a more dedicated supervisor.  He not only attends the County Board meetings but he follows the committee agendas and often attends the various committee meetings, even of those to which he has not been assigned, so he can better represent his constituents.

Isaiah attends Sylvester town board meetings regularly to provide updates on County Board issues. In my tenure as Sylvester Town Chair, Isaiah is the first County Board Supervisor to regularly attend town board meetings in our township. He encourages all residents of Sylvester Township to contact him with any questions or concerns. He actively seeks input on County Board issues. He sincerely listens to his constituents and responds accordingly.

Isaiah is a very intelligent individual who is well read and wise beyond his years. As a law student, he understands the language of ordinances and other legal documents. When ordinances and amendments to ordinances are presented to the County Board of Supervisors, Isaiah reads them, researches relevant topics, and gathers input from the residents of Sylvester Township before voting. His vote is always an informed vote.

Isaiah is not afraid to stand up for what is right even if he stands alone. A recent example of this was when a zoning amendment was presented to the County Board that limits the use/habitation of RVs/campers on private property within the County to no more than 14 days per calendar year.  Isaiah was the only County Board Supervisor who voted against this. Did the other supervisors read and/or understand the impact of that amendment? Families in Green County have had to live in RVs/campers for more than 14 days when their homes were being rebuilt after storm damage. Others have relatives who visit for the summer and spend more than 14 days living in an RV/camper. Still others use RVs/campers for hunting and fishing for more than 14 days in a calendar year. Why was Isaiah the only supervisor to vote against it? Because he is not afraid to stand up and do the right thing.

Isaiah has certainly earned another term as Green County Board Supervisor representing Sylvester Township!
