From Diana Vance

To the editor:
When I was at the Democratic State convention, I saw a young woman with her 5-year-old daughter holding a poster. I asked the woman if I could take a picture of her and her daughter and she said "Yes." Then I asked her why did she take her daughter with her to the convention?
Her answer should be put in a textbook on parenting. She said, "I always bring her along to political meetings so she can absorb it. As she grows older, she will not be afraid to enter a big room by herself. She will have heard the speeches many times from many people and will be able to make an intelligent decision when she votes. And if she decides to be a candidate one day, she will be ready to do an excellent job running and when elected she will do an excellent job serving the voters in her district."
Needless to say I was impressed by this very wise mother.
