Monroe

Four years ago, Main Street Monroe beautified a corner lot on the Square to put in an urban garden and public green space. The positive response to this project was overwhelming. Each year we've planned, planted, painted and added to the space. It's been a truly collaborative project from the Green County Master Gardeners, to volunteers, high school students and countless anonymous "weed-pullers."

Every year hundreds of people have enjoyed sitting, strolling and playing in the garden. We at Main Street cannot thank all of you enough for the support you've shown this project.

But all good things must come to an end. We regretfully announce that this summer was the last for our community garden. A fundraising campaign came up short to purchase the lot and monthly rent has proved cost-prohibitive. Now that Cheese Days is over, the garden has been removed.

To anyone and everyone who has donated, worked, supported and quietly helped maintain this beautiful area, thank you. We simply cannot thank you enough.
