National Association of Letter Carriers Monroe

I would like to send out a huge, heartfelt "thank you" to everyone that donated to the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive on May 14. We had an amazing day. We came within a couple hundred pounds of our record-breaking collection last year. We collected 9,013 pounds of food.

I would also like to thank all the wonderful volunteers from the Green County Food Pantry. They worked hard sorting the food all day. Thanks also to the retired carriers and spouses of active carriers who emptied out the active carriers' vehicles throughout the day. Pizza Hut donated three pizzas for the volunteers as well, which was much appreciated (and delicious). Last, but not least, thanks to the city and rural carriers who worked so hard to do such a good thing. The weather also cooperated with an absolutely beautiful day.

It was a very successful day that will help the food-insecure residents of Green County for the coming months. It makes my heart swell with pride to see all the people of this great community banding together to help those less fortunate. Thank you so much to everyone who made our food drive a resounding success.
