Monroe

To the editor:

Nikki Matley is seeking our support for election to the Monroe School Board. I am writing this letter to confirm my personal advocacy for Nikki's candidacy.

The Monroe School District will benefit from Nikki's significant community involvement during the past decade. Nikki has provided key volunteer leadership to Monroe Chamber of Commerce, Green County Development Corporation, the Green County Leaders Program and Monroe Kiwanis. As a successful volunteer leader Nikki has demonstrated a consistent ability to stay positive, build bridges of collaboration and grow stronger organizations.

Nikki will bring a parent's perspective to school board meetings as her son is in Middle School and her daughter attends Northside Elementary. As a concerned parent Nikki made time recently to serve as Treasurer of the SAY YES! Committee supporting passage of the crucial and successful referendum.

Nikki understands the connection between an academically strong school system and our ability to continue positive economic development for our city and county. Employers want to know that Monroe graduates are well prepared and motivated for personal future success. Monroe business leaders want to be able to assure recruits from elsewhere that they are moving to a community where the school system consistently demonstrates a caring and encouraging attitude towards all students.

When the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Green County Development Corporation were seeking new Executive Directors, Nikki served as a leader directly involved in the recruitment and hiring process. As a member of the Monroe School Board Nikki will provide additional expertise during the Superintendent hiring process.

In conclusion, I believe Nikki Matley is qualified and will serve as a dedicated member of the Monroe School Board. I intend to vote for Nikki Matley and encourage all Monroe voters to do the same at the Tuesday, April 4th election.
