The State of Wisconsin is moving forward again. Thanks to the tough but necessary choices our Republican leaders have made, we're gaining jobs not losing them. This is why I have decided to run for State Assembly in the 51st district.
We are facing many important decisions in the upcoming legislative session. Some examples would be: improving the state's economy, mining, education, transportation and infrastructure. Our most common priority should always be sustaining while improving our State's growing economy. While serving on the Monroe City Council for three years, I enjoyed learning the vital role of economic development. Through this working relationship with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, we were able to keep Quest Industrial in Monroe and encouraging them to expand. This not only proved that Monroe could create a positive business climate but also be competitive in job retention as well. While mining is a rich cornerstone of our State's history, I believe it can remain an essential part of Wisconsin's economy moving forward. This is why I support responsible mining in the state of Wisconsin. I also believe our public schools should be competitive academically. This is why I support the current school voucher plan with enrollment limits. I do not currently support lifting these limits until we can determine the effects it has on our public schools. While we strive for a prosperous future we must provide a reliable infrastructure network. These two items are out of necessity for we can't have one without the other. While investing in areas such as roads, bridges, rail and energy. Our State can ensure our fellow citizens that a more dependable infrastructure will attract more jobs for generations to come.
Lastly but equally important is public safety. Our state, as elected by the people, has the responsibility to protect its citizens. As chairperson of the public safety committee (2013) we experienced a vast improvement. While working with the Monroe Police Department, Wisconsin Tavern League and the local taxi company we increased the taxi hours at bar time. With upholding this commitment we are improving the safety on our public roadways. After working with Police Chief Fred Kelley and Fire Chief Daryl Rausch, I am honored to have their endorsements.
As your next representative in the State Assembly, I intend to uphold the office with the highest respect and integrity. I will apply my principles of common sense to protect our seniors and hard working families against fraud and wasteful government spending. I would sincerely appreciate your support on Aug. 12.
