I was at a meeting Sept. 15, 2017 where Pinnacle Farms was getting a DNR permit on water issues. I did hear a lot of concerns about water problems people may have, and I also have concerns about this. Mr. Tuls got up and showed everyone and talked about how much milk will be produced, the jobs they will bring in, how much waste water for storage and how safe it would be. But I do have one big question. Pinnacle Farms, Bader farms and the DNR. Who is going to help all the people and their the families if their water gets contaminated? When you have a leak from the lagoons or other areas on site or off site spreading manure. Yes, you did have your engineer and designer tell us all the safety things that are being done. But you know as well as everybody at the meeting that the county and the state does not have the money to fix our highways or anything else, let alone spend millions of dollars on providing clean water to families and cities. We have seen this happen to other counties in our state already. I am sure that those big dairy farms had safety plans also. Look what happened in those counties. Families are buying their own drinking water. They cannot sell their homes or farms. Yes, we know you can file bankruptcy and walk away and someone else can worry about it. Please tell us, in writing, your plans for what will be done if it happens. Who will be responsible? They should also have to put in a methane gas alarm on this farm also for safety.
Thank you.
