Do we, the voting citizens of Green County want elections that are fair and equitable? Do we want the influence of Big Money/Dark Money out of our election processes and out of influencing the decisions that are being made by our legislators? Do we think our politicians are bought and paid for by special interests and therefore our votes don't matter? Thinking about any of these questions causes most of us a lot of frustration and adds stress to our lives.
The truth is that the United States is a Democratic Republic based on a Constitution in which our officials are elected by The People to represent the will of The People, who are sovereign, in their legislative processes. The ultimate power is vested in The People who vote and direct our representatives to act upon the behalf of the majority. The local grassroots level allows Americans to solicit their state and federal government to act upon the will of The People. It is not a waste of time or money to allow the citizens of Green County to vote on legislation that impacts their right to fair elections and government that is free from corruption.
On April 3 the voting citizens of Green County will use their collective voices by voting on the referendum that is the We The People amendment. This referendum gives us our Constitutional Right to petition our state and federal legislators that according to the 1st Amendment only 1) human beings have Constitutional Rights, not corporations, organizations, unions, nonprofits or other artificial entities. Also 2) that money is not free speech under the 1st Amendment. The future of our Democracy depends on us, The People, to stand up and send a clear message to our government that enough is enough! We will not tolerate legislation that is not based on the will of The People or that of our governing document, The U.S. Constitution.
Please vote YES on the Green County wide We The People referendum on April 3. The future of our Representative Democracy depends on We The People to rescue for ourselves and our prodigy.
