To the editor:

This is a letter of thanks to Mr. Dick Marti who was employed by the Green County Highway Department for 39 years. Dick was the patrol superintendent and it was part of his responsibilities to make sure that Green County's state highways and county trunk highways were safe for the motoring public.

During a snow or ice event, Dick would usually arrive at 2:00 a.m. and sometimes wouldn't go home until around 11:00 p.m. or until the last plow truck was put away for the evening. Mr. Marti would then start the entire process over again the next day.

Dick has taken the job as maintenance supervisor for the Green County Courthouse and the Green County Justice Center. If you see Dick, please thank him for his dedication to the citizens of Green County.
