Letter to the editor: Keep eye on Marklein, Novak votes

To the editor:

Recently the Wisconsin Senate (without allowing any debate) and then the Assembly passed a Right to Work law. This law will help drive down wages for everyone. Howard Marklein, after promising to be an independent voice for our district, and Todd Novak both voted for this law. Per Mr. Marklein's staff the calls and emails to his office were 5-to-1 opposed to the law but he voted for it anyway. Mr. Novak's office declined to respond. One could assume that the calls to Mr. Novak's office were about the same. This bill does not help southwestern Wisconsin. Reports of companies moving to Minnesota because of this law are on the nightly news already.

Everyone needs to watch carefully how these two vote. Votes will be coming up concerning taking more money from rural school districts, taking money from the University of Wisconsin System and give more money to private schools. We all need to see if these two are representing the people of southwest Wisconsin or are they representing the billionaire Koch Brothers and the Walton (Walmart) family?
