To the editor:
My name is Teresa Keehn and I am asking for your write-in vote for Monroe School Board on Tuesday, April 3. I believe that serving our kids is not just one thing that a school does, it is the only thing. I have a passion for kids and believe all kids deserve the best possible education. Our schools are the heart of our community and as a community we have the awesome responsibility of nurturing, caring for, and developing our children.
I feel I have a great deal of strengths that will help add value to the Monroe School District and the greater community. First, I grew up in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School, so Monroe is home to me. After graduating, I went on to college at UW-Madison and worked for 16 years as a school psychologist, special education director, and most recently as an elementary school principal. Education is not new to me, and I have a strong foundation of best practices in education at all levels, elementary, middle and high school.
I moved away from Monroe for 19 years, but I see Monroe as my home and my community. My husband and I wanted our children to grow up by family and be a part of the Monroe Schools. My parents, David and Jo Ellen Mosher, instilled in me a strong sense of community and taught me that we all have a responsibility to utilize our strengths and work hard to help our community flourish. This is a responsibility I do not take lightly, and since moving back two years ago I have constantly sought out ways to be active and involved in our community. I feel that the being a part of the school board is one way for me to utilize my strengths and give back to a community that has given so much to me.
I feel that education can be the great equalizer for kids. I see it as the role of the school board to focus on what is best for all students and to implement policies that will ensure the success of our students. I am happy, excited, and honored to offer my strengths and talents as a school board member to help see that this happens for all of our kids. Please consider writing in Teresa Keehn (spelling matters) for Monroe School Board on Tuesday, April 3.
