To the editor:

The right man (or woman) for the job?

Those words are very important but what do they mean? Well, first of all they mean that the person knows what they are doing. They have learned in school or though experience what works in a given circumstance and what doesn't. But it also means much more than that. Experience may help someone to do a job, but more is needed to do a job right, much more.

When a child is young, we expect that he or she won't always get along with others. Part of growing up is learning how to be tolerant and control one's tongue. In short the social graces that allow us to interact among ourselves as adults without coming to blows. The employee who swears at his boss or creates a disturbance in the workplace isn't likely to keep his or her job for long. And the office of President of the U.S. is a paid job. While the president leads us as a whole, in fact, they are our employee. They answer to us, the American people, not the other way around.

The work place for them is international as they work with other countries in an effort to keep the peace. There is no place in that workplace for the throwing of tantrums, swearing, or treating others as if they are inferior to ourselves. Mr. Trump has already shown that he is unable to govern his own speech, nor keep his cool so why should we want him to work for us? What will happen if he gets into office and has a tantrum while interacting with other countries or doesn't get his own way here at home?

Our government has a series of checks and balances put in place by the founding fathers as safety measures against anyone doing whatever they please should they be elected. What happens if he becomes president and is told he can't do something because the checks and balances prevent him from exercising such powers?

Does anyone think he'll just sigh and let it go? He has shown signs of an explosive and abrasive personality and maybe as a wealthy man of business that has aided him in the past, but it is far from what we want in the leader of an entire country. Presidents must be thoughtful and diplomatic. Mr. Trump seems to be neither.
