Letter to the Editor: Focus should be on protesters' grievances

To the editor:

I do agree that NFL players and staff have the right to protest peacefully. This a right afforded by the U.S. Constitution and the real reason why our military personnel have fought and many died for our RIGHT to peacefully protest and bring our grievances before our government. This issue has been completely blown out of proportion by the alt-right propagandizing machine in our nation for the express purpose of an agenda to 'divide and conquer'. These protests are NOT about disrespecting the National Anthem or the Flag as these right wing zealots want us to believe. This is the most respectful way (by taking a knee) for the folks to bring light to their ACTUAL grievance, which is racism and racial profiling with brutality by some in law enforcement in our country. The current executive administration in our White House instead of acknowledging that these problems exist and working to OPEN the dialogue for action to move forward, choose to misrepresent and ignore these issues. I have never been so ashamed of our government as I am now. From our FAKE President and right through the ranks of the executive branch is where the divisive rhetoric and divisive actions continue each and every day. The most recent media stunt by our V.P. abruptly leaving a football game should alert all Americans of the lengths that the current administration will go to try to divide us and ignore the Constitutional and civil rights for all Americans. This stunt was planned and sanctioned by the WH and cost the taxpayers $245,000! And our Congress is like crickets and allow the voices of the people they represent to be ignored by their silence. Shame on all of them!
