To the editor:
I support Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg for election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court on April 5.
Judge Kloppenburg is by far the more qualified and experienced candidate to succeed the late Justice Crooks on our state's high court. She has ably served the citizens of Wisconsin on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals for the past four years. From my own experience as a member of that busy court, I know that service as an appellate judge provides not only a breadth and depth of knowledge of Wisconsin law, but also valuable experience in legal analysis and writing, as well as the opportunity to work in a collegial manner with fellow members of the court.
Just as importantly, JoAnne served as an assistant attorney general for more than 20 years under both Republican and Democratic attorneys general. In that role, she represented the state of Wisconsin in hundreds of cases involving constitutional, administrative and environmental law. Her experience includes all aspects of litigation in both state and federal courts, at both the trial and appellate levels.
In short, Judge Kloppenburg has earned the respect and confidence of the citizens of Wisconsin. Please vote for her on Tuesday, April 5.
