To the editor:

When Hillary Clinton began her duties as Secretary of State in 2009 she had received a government approved e-mail server. She found it most difficult to use because she had only limited knowledge of classified data procedures.

She approached Colin Powell, the out-going Secretary of State, to ask him to help her with this government e-mail server. He told her he used a personal e-mail server so he said, "I could communicate with a wide range of friends, I even used it to do business with some foreign leaders." What he told Hillary was, "use your private e-mail account and keep your mouth shut."

In Joe Conason's book about Bill Clinton, he writes about a dinner party in 2009 that former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright hosted for Hillary Clinton. Colin Powell was at this dinner. Over dessert Albright asked all the former secretaries to offer one salient bit of counsel (to Hillary).

Powell suggested that she use her own e-mail server as he had done. Powell later denied he said that. "Although several sources told me about Powell's 2009 conversation with her, Clinton was not among them," said Conason.

"She didn't mention Powell when I interviewed her for my book in 2013 and during the past seven years she has never spoken publicly about his advice, which she considered private," Conason said.

Hillary's silence protected Colin's reputation. Even under vile questioning from Republicans in the House Select committee she kept her silence. She is trustworthy. With her as president, our country will have a leader who is honest, strong, knowledgeable and benevolent.
