Letter to the Editor: DA should enforce face masks
Letter To The Editor

From Robert LaBarre

Monticello

To the editor:

As a human being, citizen, and taxpayer I find District Attorney Craig Nolen's insinuation that he cannot enforce the governor's masking mandate, a true disservice to our county.

At a time of escalating viral infections in Green County we needed prompt action to help curb

COVID-19. Instead, Mr. Nolen issued a press statement that essentially was a shallow echo of the poor arguments made by the Republican legislature in Wisconsin. Mr. Nolen would have been better off to have said nothing at all.

For those of us that read and pay attention to what is the "best practice" for such a situation as this pandemic, facemasking, if practiced by everyone, could be a very significant factor in reducing the spread of the COVID-19 pestilence.

Other counties and states that I have traveled to, have had no problems when simple masking requirements are met. No one that I saw in these other places had a problem and there were no confrontational arguments between people being asked to participate.

My question to you Mr. Nolen is: Can you live with your conscience if even only one person got sick or one person was hospitalized or one person died because of your inaction?

Good leaders take responsibility. Great leaders lead by taking action and being responsible.

Thank you.
