Judge candidate on her merits

From George Vernon
Monroe
This is in response to the letter from Rex Burgess regarding the political literature of Janis Ringhand. I don't know Janis Ringhand well. However, our family has supported her campaigns for an Assembly seat because she is a sensible person who has a history of constructive contributions in Evansville in the private sector, in government, and in community service. If the political "tracts" that she drops off in Monroe after scratching on people's doors fail to mention that she is a Democrat, I assume that one reason is that they are being distributed in a community where Republicans are, after all, a majority. I assume another reason is her hope (apparently a futile hope in the case of Mr. Burgess) that she will be judged as a candidate on her merits and not by reflexive reaction to a party label.
