Monroe National Association of Letter Carriers

The National Association of Letter Carriers would like to remind you that the largest single day food drive in the United States is scheduled for Saturday, May 14. This is the 19th annual food drive, and the 77 million pounds of food collected last year brought the total collected to more than 1 billion pounds.

This is a critical time of year for the food insecure. School food programs that ensure that children are adequately fed during the school year are not available in the summer months. One in five families are food insecure in the United States, and one in four of those people are children, which is a very startling statistic. You can help by placing non-perishable food items in the bags provided by your mailbox on May 14, and your letter carrier will make sure that it is donated to the Green County Food Pantry.

This year, Campbell's has created a Facebook page. If you go to their Facebook page and "Like" them, they will donate an additional pound of food for every "Like." This is in addition to the million pounds of food that Campbell's so graciously donates every year. Please help us Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday May 14.
