Green County Dairy Queen: Eva Marie Van Dyk
Dairy Queen Van Dyk
Eva Marie Van Dyk

Hello! I am Eva Marie Van Dyk, the daughter of Chris and Jolene Van Dyk. I am currently a sophomore at Monroe High School and I am the 2018-19 Monroe Dairy Queen. In January, I moved here from Tulare, California. You all may be wondering “Where is this so-called Tulare?” It is a small, agriculture-centered town right in the middle of the state of California; fun fact, it’s actually the top dairy county in the U.S. We made the cross-country move for a dairy management job opportunity my dad was offered.

I was born and raised on a farm and I am still involved with the dairy and agriculture community. If you were to ask my friends what some of my favorite hobbies are, they would say showing cows and riding horses. I have shown dairy cattle at many county and state level shows and rode my horses with many different teams and in various events. Both of these things have changed my life for the better and they both happen to be agriculture related!

A fairly consistent question I get asked is “What made you want to become a dairy queen?” There are a few different reasons as to why becoming a dairy queen was extremely important to me. My sister was one of the main reasons as to why I wanted to be a dairy queen.

She was a dairy queen as well and I wanted to follow in her footsteps after seeing all the lives she impacted and changed. I wanted to do the same for people of all ages in Monroe and Green County.

I also wanted to become a dairy queen so I can advocate even further for the industry I love!

If anyone has a community event that they would like a Dairy Queen to attend, please feel free to let me know, evavandyk@monroe.k12.wi.us.
