In response to "Discriminating Shopper," who is under the impression that Monroe does not have a book store, I recommend a visit to Fireside Books, just off the square at 1110 15th Avenue. The proprietress, Kathy Spaeth, is friendly, knowledgeable and maintains a great inventory of used books. You won't find the newest releases - for that there is still Madison. But you will find many recent releases and much else of interest. If you are a serious reader, you will seldom leave without a few books under your arm.
