Feingold, Simonson represent the people

Why are We The People of this democratic republic selling our future to multi-national corporations? Big-money, really big-money, contributions have driven the cost of running campaigns for "Public" office at most levels of government out of control and out of the reach of We The People.

Who has the lion's share of wealth and power in the world today? It isn't the small business owners. It certainly isn't the workers. Even organized religion's wealth is slight compared to the international fat-cat super corporate types. Multi-national corporate entities pour staggering amounts of money into purchasing the favor of the people We The People elect to make the laws of the land. Contributions are made directly to campaigns or indirectly through shadowy cover groups where the money trail cannot be followed. Add the dollars the same organizations spend on lobbying our legislators and the numbers become unimaginable.

It isn't that corporations are inherently bad or evil. But their interests (profit and higher stock prices) do not usually coincide with the interests of We The People.

It seems to me that the Republican party has been hijacked by profit motivated moneyed entities. They've become the party of "NO": no government, no governing, no regulations, no discussion, no working together, no attempting to solve problems. And there is no doubt that the big-money bunch is capable of relentless manipulation of public opinion through the giant media corporations that dominate television and radio.

I am not a member of a political party, however, this election I am voting a straight Democratic ticket. This is an anti-Republican vote (and will continue to be until the party gets a new and improved attitude toward governing). But it is not only an anti-Republican vote. I am convinced that both John Simonson and Russ Feingold understand the influence of corporate interests in politics. They are the legislators that can best represent the interests of We The People.
