Donations drop in downturn
Placeholder Image
Despite our constant pleas throughout the community we haven't received many donations during this economic downturn.

Very, very few checks have come in the mail. We are not just in our neighborhood and yours, but in everybody's. We are not a government agency and receive no government funding. We are reaching out on behalf of the clients we serve and asking for the public's help. This past year, we were able to assist more than 32 local families who had disasters - most of them single family fires - right here in the three-county region we serve. We also gathered about 1,300 pints of blood and initiated 50 communications between soldiers abroad and their families here. We taught nearly 5,000 people how to save lives through our Health & Safety classes. Some did - we will be recognizing four individuals who, using our training, saved or sustained a life last year.

Your unrestricted gift will aid the American Red Cross Northwest Illinois Chapter to empower ordinary people to continue to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations. We train. We mobilize. We connect donors and volunteers to those in urgent need of a helping hand. Whether it is a hurricane or a heart attack; a call for blood or a call for help, the American Red Cross is there. Our mission's goals will be strengthened by your generosity. Together, we can transform a life in crisis into a life of hope. Your gift supports the lifesaving mission of the American Red Cross in your community, across the country and around the world.
