Dentists saluted for community contributions

If we want to make our community stronger, to create a brighter future for Green County and for its residents, it takes everyone in the community working together, doing what they can to help. We all have the ability to help in some way. Be part of improving the health, education, income and lives of people in Green County. Find your way to live united in our community. The United Way of Green County, Inc., salutes three area dentists who are generously giving of their time and talents to help in our community.

The United Way thanks Drew Delforge, DDS, Scott Patterson, DDS, and Julio Rodriguez, DDS, for their work with the Fowler Free Memorial Dental Clinic.

When the Green County Healthy Community Coalition Health Needs Assessment revealed the continued problem of residents not having access to dental care for the underinsured and uninsured, Southwest Community Action Program and the Green County Healthy Communities Coalition partnered to develop a free dental clinic for low-income citizens in Green County.

On April 3, the Fowler Free Memorial Dental clinic opened its doors. Thanks to the wonderful dentists and hygienists who have stepped forward, willing to contribute their time and talents to help, many area children already have received free dental care. With additional volunteers, even more children can be helped. Qualifying children from 3-12 are being treated for dental emergencies but, with additional volunteers, it is the hope of the clinic to provide preventive care for children and to expand the age group of patients being seen.

Dr. Drew Delforge, Dr. Scott Patterson and Dr. Julio Rodriguez are helping provide dental care to area children who could not otherwise afford it. We salute you and thank you for living united in our community!
