I wish to respond to the anonymous barb thrown at Harvey Kubly. You chide Harvey for allegedly not looking at the entire county when he made his vote to put back into service several miles of what is currently the Cheese Country Trail built on the former Milwaukee Road rail line which went from Janesville to Mineral Point.
Having known and worked with Harvey Kubly on both rail and tourism issues, I have always found Harvey to be one of the best representatives of Green County. Harvey always considers both sides and when he makes a decision you can be darn sure that he has fairly and accuately weighted both sides of the issue.
While it comes as a surprise to ATV users that this corridor is being reactivated, this rail corridor is in the national rail bank program, which means if rail use dictates the necessity of reactivating the rail line that takes first priority. Sadly, when the trail was built, the potential trail users probably were told that the rails would never go back in. There is a rail use and that does take priority over a temporary use such as the trail use.
The well-paying jobs created by Badger State Ethanol are worth more to the overall economy than the few minimum-wage jobs trails create.
