Can't afford to pay any more in this economy

Can you push a rope?

My house is my family's only place of shelter and it's unconscionable to tax it. I hardly tolerate paying rent to live in my house, fearing that I may be forcibly removed for failing to pay your tax.

My life's savings are tied up in my property. The Assessed value is more than Fair Market value and more taxes will make that worse. How, where and when will this tax and spend attitude end?

Where and how am I supposed to shelter my family when I can no longer pay these ever-increasing taxes? Am I supposed to just walk away and leave my property to you? Maybe I could camp out in Madison ... or Illinois? Don't you realize that we are in the third year of a serious recession?

Unemployment is at record levels and increasing. Foreclosures, tax delinquencies, food and fuel are skyrocketing. People are hurting. I keep hearing that everyone needs to sacrifice.

Obviously, that pertains only to the private sector. Over the last three years, wages have decreased, I have no pension, and my insurance, taxes and necessary expenses have increased.

Working 5-6 hours per day at 180 days a year sounds pretty good to me.

Heck, that's a part-time job and hardly worth the wage with pension and insurance, too.

Is this really about the children? I've always had to make the tough decisions about what I can and can't do.

Obviously this isn't a problem for you. You have deep pockets. Only they're not your pockets. They're mine - the one who pays your bills and I'm tired of it. Instead of soliciting ideas, you disseminate propaganda designed to generate sympathy.

You allege the school district has greater need of my money than I do.

Shame on you!
