A huge blossom to Walmart for donating warm hats, mittens, scarves, and other warm articles of clothing that children may need this winter. It sure helps the families that can't afford much in this bad economy. Thank you! - Anonymous
A basket full of blossoms to the New Glarus Friends of the Library for recently sponsoring Dannelle Gay's "Coupon Clipping 101." It was a great program with lots of helpful information. - Anonymous
A blossom: A sincere thank you to all my volunteers who did their first read at Abe Lincoln School, Oct. 20 for the Wisconsin Bookworm Project. All the readers were well prepared and gave the children lots of attention. The children dearly loved it and went away as a proud owner of their own book to keep forever. Mrs. Bundy and the teacher's aides were also very helpful to us and enhanced a fun and informative session with the children. Well done, my friends. - Jan Kash.
A barb to the YMCA for raising ticket prices for their fund-raising event to $40 each. For this price, there should be a nice sitdown dinner. What did we get? Pulled pork and beans that you get at the fairgrounds for $6. The rest was a great evening but the food was disappointing and poor value. - Anonymous
I would like to send a big blossom to Walmart for donating winter hats, mittens, scarves, and other warm articles of clothing to the Monticello School District. It really helps the families out that can't afford a lot in this bad economy. Thank you! - Anonymous
A huge blossom to the Monroe Boys Cross Country team on making it to state this year. You guys are an inspiration and a perfect example of what hard work and determination leads to. Good luck at state and run like you stole something! - Anonymous
A barb to our great Republican Millionaire Ron Johnson. Why did you vote against creating 19,400 jobs in Wisconsin? Has your plastic factory hired anyone since you've been elected to the Senate? You and your top 1-percent cronies have no clue what the working people really endure daily. All you worry about is how to get more tax breaks to make you wealthier than you already are. The taxpayers, which pay your wages in Washington, D.D., haven't been handed a silver spoon to eat from like you have been. It's easy to make money when someone else makes it for you and then it is all handed over to you "Scot-free." - Not a Republican
A blossom to all the folks who are decorating for Halloween. I don't know exactly when this started, but I think we can thank the Great Pumpkin for inspiring all the time and effort you've put into these great lights and decorations. Keep it up as it all looks spooky and awesome at the same time, and a special shout out to the house on 17th Avenue north of the Square. It all looks great!
A blossom to the city for the completion of the 8/9th St. construction. But really, a marching band? A huge thank you to all the business owners and employees for all your patience and hardships you've endured during this construction. I sure hope that the city has an aggressive marketing plan in place to help increase and route more business to you all and the westside businesses effected by this.
A barb to the morons who continue to drive down the wrong side of the street on 16th Avenue. The signs don't read "The Hell With It," they say "One Way." I had this one clown in a pickup play chicken with me about a month ago. I stopped in the middle of the road to tell him it's one way, but instead of listening, he drove around my car all the while giving me the one-finger salute. Morons, what are you gonna do? - Rob McCarthy, Monroe
A blossom to the 99-percent protesters. I support the 99 percent movement. This is the right way to go. This movement needs to keep going until they win the attention of the government and Wall Street. The whole country should get behind this movement. This is the road Martin Luther King Jr. took and got good results. The same results will happen for the movement. Please keep up the good work for America. -Definitely Not a One-Percenter
