A heartfelt bouquet of blossoms to all of the people who helped my husband and daughter during their car accident on Sept. 23.> To the Monroe Police Department, the Green County EMS, and the Monroe Clinic emergency room staff - to Dr. Olskey and all of the nurses. An even bigger bouquet of blossoms to the people on the scene who jumped in to help them and the wonderful woman who jumped in and helped to keep my daughter calm until the EMS could help her. I truly thank you all. - Karri Walker>

A huge blossom to Dr. Amy and Dr. Ed at Monroe Vet Service!> Words can't express our gratitude for your heroic efforts to save our Lab! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!

A second blossom to Matt for actually stopping and taking the time to notify us after the accident instead of driving away with no remorse as so many do these days. - The Schroeder Family>

A barb to Monroe Clinic for not having a dermatologist on staff for over a year now. > Because there is not a doctor on staff to do yearly skin cancer checks, I have to go to Madison to have it done. They will not take new patients late in the day, so I have to take a day off of work to make an appointment. - An Unhappy Patient>

A huge blossom to all the volunteers, donators and buyers who supported the Bob Makos benefit this past weekend.> It was a huge success! Thanks to all who helped! - There Are Good People Out There

A blossom to everyone who helped the Monroe Garden Club make their recent annual spaghetti supper another success.> We thank everyone who purchased tickets. By purchasing tickets, you have helped to contribute funds to our community. We thank Walmart, Culligan and Pick and Save for their donations, and The Monroe Times for their articles about our club and supper. We thank members and non-members for providing the best of help. Without your help we couldn't have made it happen. - Monroe Garden Club>

A barb to the Green County Humane Society president.> I read in The Monroe Times a few weeks ago a letter to the editor from a lady who said that he yelled at a member for asking someone to speak up at the last board meeting. Last week, I got my Green County Humane Society newsletter in the mail, and in the president's message on Page 2 he states, "Acting in a professional manner when dealing with the public, membership, government entities, and other organizations is all part of continued growth and change." I was confused, so I actually talked to someone who was at that meeting, and they confirmed that he yelled at a lady for asking someone to please speak up. Is that what you call "professional?" Or is this a case of "do as I say, not as I do?" - Confused Member, Carol>

A huge blossom to Washington Implement of Monticello for being the major sponsor for the Green County Fall National Truck and Tractor Pull.> In addition, you provided an amazing crew to help trackside. Your team was easily recognized by the special red company shirts that were worn by all and definitely brought a sense of professionalism to your company and what you stand for. GCFN is very fortunate to have you as a sponsor and we thank you for all you've done.

A blossom to Don Halverson of Halverson Farms, Terry Morton of Morton Farms, Paul Graber and Schmidt Farms for the use of their equipment.

A blossom to the GCFN Event Staff for all your support and volunteer work that you did to make the event successful. From setup to teardown, manning the gates, running the errands and simply just doing whatever was needed, you did your job and you did it well. There are too many individuals to list and we don't want to miss anyone so you know who you are and we thank each and every one - young and old - who worked so hard to make this event the success that it was.

A blossom to Nancy Faith. Your assistance goes above and beyond and we thank you.

A blossom to the individual who brought homemade chocolate chip cookies to the gate workers. We don't know who you are but we would like to thank you in person. They were delicious and a very special surprise to the workers. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.

A blossom to Big Radio for all the advertising that you have provided for the GCFN over the past three years. Your willingness to assist with this communication is greatly appreciated. In addition, it seems noteworthy to extend a blossom to Precision Drive & Control, Carrousel Grain, Badger State Ethanol and Bell Signs for being three-year donors for this event. Thanks for hanging in there with us!

A final blossom to Green County, surrounding communities and all of the businesses and individuals who have been so generous in helping to make the GCFN a success for the third year in a row. An event of this size couldn't be accomplished without the assistance and generosity of each and every one of you. Thank you so much! - Mark Hawthorn, GCFN event coordinator>

A huge blossom to the area businesses that donated items and gift cards for the Juda homecoming dance.> Your generosity was greatly appreciated. - The Juda Booster Club>

A barb to Monroe High School> for having the wrong time for the soccer match on its Web site. - Soccer Fan

Don't know if this is a barb or a blossom.> Nice new Judicial (Justice) Center, in the City of Monroe city limits, building is occupied, so an occupancy permit must have been issued by the City, but where is the sidewalk? The City codes say a sidewalk is to be installed before occupancy takes place. Walmart complied. Just wondered. - Double Standard?>

A huge blossom goes out to Coach Linn Lederman and the Monticello seventh-grade girls basketball team> on an outstanding game against Albany on Sept. 22. Far more important than the score was the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by the team. One of the players on the Albany side, a developmentally disabled young lady, was put into the game with 50 seconds to play. Albany threw her the ball with about 20 seconds on the clock. Monticello girls cleared a path to the basket to give her a chance to put a shot up. Monticello rebounded and fed the ball back to the Albany player to try again. Once again she missed, and Monticello rebounded only to feed her the ball one final time with only a few seconds on the clock. On the third attempt, the Albany player made her basket at the buzzer and almost brought the house down as Albany and Monticello fans cheered her success. She made a real basket in a real game and was a star. Thank you coach Lederman and Monticello girls for showing others that it is OK to give others the chance to show their talent and shine. Winning isn't always the most important thing and you let someone else be proud of who they are and show how they can contribute to win the game. - Way to Go>

A huge blossom to the many people who organized, volunteered and donated to the Bob Makos cancer benefit held last Saturday.> There were so many people and businesses who donated so generously that it would be difficult to list everyone. Special thanks to Chris Nipple and her committee for tirelessly planning and organizing the benefit; to Michael Pederson and the Argyle Rod and Gun Club for hosting the event; to Skip Hoffman of Friendly Village Catering in Afton, Wis., for donating and preparing the food served during lunch; to Mark Hawthorn and the Green County Fall National for their generous donation to the family; to Zeke Garthwaite for donating his services for the auction; and to everyone who donated items for the bake sale and auction. Your generosity and kindness will never be forgotten. - From the family and friends of Bob Makos>
