A blossom to the City of Monroe >for attracting two very qualified applicants for the city administrator job. Former mayor of Freeport and current city administrator of Prairie du Chein, Jim Gitz, as well as James Mogen. Hopefully our "wonderful" city council will choose someone that might actually want to make a difference in our community. Or could this be strike two for the council? - We Have Choices!>

I just wanted to give a blossom to the Paul Mitchell School. >They declared today (Wednesday, Oct. 14) National Hug Day and showed up at my place of business to hug people. We were just having a regular day of business and these four happy young girls came in and really made our day fun! It's such a positive thing when people do simple, free things for complete strangers! Thanks for your inspiration. - Happy Camper>

A huge blossom to the students of the Paul Mitchell School. >What a wonderful example to set. I agree with Happy Camper. How nice to see young people take time to share a smile and hug to others. With all the trouble in the world today, it is therapeutic to share a hug. Smiles are contagious. - Another Happy Camper>

A blossom to thank everyone for voting yes> for the referendum for Pleasant View Nursing Home and a barb to people who voted no. You never know when you might need a facility like Pleasant View. - L.M.>

This is a barb to the Lafayette County Planning and Zoning Commissioner >for not doing a single thing the past three years to get livestock facility ordinances in place. Mr. Hubner, do your job! This is a barb to all the other Lafayette County officials >who knew that these ordinances were not in place and did nothing about it. You were elected to perform a service for Lafayette County, to support the people of Lafayette County for the betterment of all. Do your job! - Margaret A. (Peggy) Miller>

A barb for our mayor. >With all his new-found powers, where he can tell the council what the budget is going to be, I don't see why we need a city administrator. Not having one would definitely help the budget. Let the City Council do what it was elected to do. I've always said that the mayor should be the idea man, and that the City Council makes the laws. But if they want to give away their power without a fight, who am I to say? Everything starts with an idea, but it should be a good one. - LaVern F. Isely, Monroe>

A barb to the people in Monroe >for letting the mayor and alderman manage the city's budget. They cannot balance their own budgets and pay their taxes. - Marilyn, Monroe>

I'd like to send a big blossom to the Orangeville eighth-grade football team and coach Janecke and coach Carr >for finishing their season 6-0 this year. What a great bunch of kids, not to mention the awesome job the coaches did with the boys this year. Continued success in the future. - Proud Bronco fans>
