A barb to Anonymous who "barbed" the YMCA for failing to offer a "nice sitdown dinner" at their annual FUNdraiser. Not only did you insult the YMCA, but you also insulted "Bites" who catered the event. The purpose of the event is to raise money for the YMCA, which is why a "nice sitdown dinner" was not on the menu. The meal was perfect for the occasion and was served up by a fabulous team. It was a wonderful evening so don't let Anonymous deter you from attending next year!- Angie Rogerson, Monroe

A very huge barb to the Monroe Times for allowing a painting of a naked woman on the back section of Saturday's paper. There are still those of us in America and Monroe who do not count pornography as "Art" and are appalled that it is considered as such and then allowed to "grace" our newspaper where descent people and children can see it. I am ashamed that you allowed such vulgarity - are you? -Mary Spoonhour

I also barb the people going the wrong way on 16th Avenue. I also had a pickup truck (red) zoom past me going the wrong way. I didn't have a stop sign and was going less than the speed limit, thank goodness, because this truck was not, and had the timing been one second different, he would have t-boned me and my two children. It wasn't till later in the day after I calmed down that I went down the street and saw the pick up truck parked in front of a house. That same truck is parked there all the time so that tells me this wasn't an honest mistake of someone just confused but a deliberate act of an idiot who put me an my children in harm's way. - Anonymous

A barb to the 99 percent math geniuses who do not realize that 99 percent of the population will always be in the bottom 99 percent. Don't worry about the top 1 percent. You probably will never be them. My concern is about the 46 percent who contribute nothing to our economy, yet demand the most from the public coffers. Yes, I understand that there are disadvantaged and elderly, but 46 percent ... ? Come on. Those who have to work or seek employment do not have time to camp out and occupy anything. Instead of hating and protesting successful people, work at becoming one of them. -Anonymous

A blossom to Albany Fire Department and EMS: Monday evening we drove through Albany during trick-or-treating hours. It was wonderful to see the firemen and EMS on the corners helping the trick-or-treaters cross safely. They deserve a huge blossom. - Susan Pickett

A huge blossom to the Parkside Elementary School fifth-graders for "treating" us on Halloween by walking down to Angelus and Twining Valley with a costume parade. These students were pleasant, well-behaved and took the time to sit and chat with the residents. Thanks again for making our Halloween special. - From the residents and staff of Twining Valley and Angelus Retirement communities.
