We wish to take this opportunity to give a blossom to all the donors and volunteers >who so generously give of their time to make the Red Cross Bloodmobiles a success. Because of this generosity, the Red Cross has been able to increase the number of mobiles in Monroe. We are proud that our high school students are now doing a mobile each year, as well. We also wish to express our deepest gratitude to the United Methodist Church for opening its doors to such a worthy cause. - Kathy Reffue and Vicki Ingwell, coordinators>

A tiny barb to our council and fire chief in Monroe. >The budget was passed with a very small increase (thanks), but no mention of building our firehouse that has been discussed and promised for years. I and a lot of other westsiders want to know when and how you plan to address this problem. We have been very patient and have heard your promises. Now its time to act! - Citizen Kane>

A big barb to all of those who insist on sending out a barb >who don't have the guts to sign your name to these cheap shots. It must make you feel big and bad spewing garbage with zero facts and pure speculation, yet expect to be taken serious is pure goofball 101. Every barb in the paper or online was sent with no name to it. Either get some guts or shut up. - R. McCarthy>

A huge barb to the Times >for its censoring of other people's views. The Times is not the only one with a view. - Me>

A big, huge blossom to the three gentlemen >who helped me push my little truck (which isn't so little when you are trying to push it by yourself!) out of the intersection, on Saturday. Also, thank you to the guys at AutoZone for being so helpful and understanding. You prove we still live in a great area. Thank you again. I truly am grateful! - Michelle>

I would like to give a blossom to the Monroe Moose Lodge >for the breakfast it cooked to benefit the Green County Historical Society. We also would like to give a blossom to the nearly 300 people >who came to the breakfast to support us. Many of you put extra money in the donation jar and we appreciate that, too, as all the money we collected will be put toward the restoration of the Lincoln Park Water Tower. Thanks again for your support. - Christie Strait, president of the Green County Historical Society>

A huge blossom to all the area producers and all of the producers across this great nation >who toil long hours in numerous conditions to help provide our grocery stores and consumers with safe, affordable food for the upcoming holiday feasts. While many of us enjoy four-day weekends, these fine folks will still be taking care of their livestock and farms. Also, a huge blossom to all the local food pantry locations >that help those families in need. And maybe, if you can, if there are leftovers at your counter, make up a care box for a family or an elderly person you know of who can't afford much or can't get out of the house. Who knows, you might even make a new friend. God Bless everyone and Happy Thanksgiving. - Jeff Ditzenberger, Monticello>

A blossom to Jimmie at the Red Apple >for having free Thanksgiving dinners from 5 to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at the restaurant. He also provides some delivered meals to the jail on the holiday. Jimmie is a wonderful person for doing this. - Anonymous (two people make the same request for a blossom)>

A big blossom to the individuals and organizations >for all of their support through the donations of either food or money during the Thanksgiving season. Monroe is truly a caring community. Your efforts of supporting the food pantry are greatly appreciated. - Maynard Heins (Green County Food Pantry, located at 1015 15th Ave. , Monroe)>

A barb to Monroe Clinic >for requesting, and a barb to the City of Monroe >for granting, blight designation for properties owned by Monroe Clinic. I recently drove past the hospital and I failed to see any blighted property. This action is a misuse of city redevelopment programs. An organization like the hospital that pays no city property tax should not have access nor benefit from city-supported programs. - A Concerned Green County Citizen>
