A huge spring blossom to my loyal customers in Monroe and the surrounding area for your support of my Heritage House Restaurant and Heritage Hall. Every since I took over ownership in 2007, my primary goal and great pleasure continues to be offering you exceptional food and drinks at reasonable prices in a lovely, quiet, casual atmosphere of warm hospitality. I look forward to many more years of serving you. A barb to those people who spread false rumors about the Heritage House Restaurant and Heritage Hall closing. Those rumors are not true. - Gary Abduli, Heritage House Restaurant and Heritage Hall owner
Green Cares Food Pantry would like to give the Green County Fall Nationals an enormous blossom for the 11,000 pounds of food donated to the pantry. This food helps us serve the nearly 400 to 500 individuals each month that look to our pantry to keep food on their plates. For those that aren't aware, Green Cares Food Pantry located just outside of Monticello, serves all Green County residents who are in need of food. Second Harvest reports that for nearly one in six people, hunger is a reality. More than 10 percent of Green County's population now looks to the Food Share Program to assist in putting food on the table. The Food Share benefits along with our local food pantries allow families to properly feed their children. Thank you, thank you GCFN for caring for those in need; you serve the residents of this county in so many different ways and we are blessed to have this donation. Thank you for all you do for the community. - Green Cares Food Pantry Board of Directors; Mary Gafner, Chair.
I would like to give a big barb to those parents who taped off several rows at the PAC for the Northside Kindergarten Circus. What makes you so special that you can mark off space? All the children did a great job. I don't understand why people think they are above all the rest of us parents who can't be there in the morning hours. Some of us have to work for a living and are unable to arrive until an hour before the show. Again, great job to all the teachers and children. You did a great job! -Parent
A big blossom to the westside businesses and landowners who keep their properties looking neat and clean, and do landscaping to keep the area green and welcoming. Especially a blossom to those who have land fronting on Honey Creek and keep it clean. Honey Creek is a great natural asset to our city. Likewise, a tremendous barb to the businesses who do not keep their land along Honey Creek clean and tidy, and that do not plant trees and bushes to soften the landscape. As a result, the West Side has vast areas that look deserted, neglected and derelict. Litter all over, no trees, just barren, except for weeds and brush and discarded trash. Shame on you. Don't you have pride in your city and country? Well, many of your customers do. We want our city to be green and clean, for us, and for our visitors. Clean up those creek banks, and plant some trees. Show your pride. As for me, I prefer not to live or do business in that environment. I plan to talk with my alder. - Keep America beautiful
Republican Paul Ryan deserves a blossom. I read in The Monroe Times that Congressman Paul Ryan would like to make deep cuts to the farm subsidy programs. The farmers have been taking our tax dollars to subsidize their milk, crops, CRP program, and give them very low taxes on their highly profitable agricultural land. Ryan also wants to cut or eliminate Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. These cuts will put more money in my pocket and I'm tired of paying for these welfare programs. I thank the Republicans for working for us! - Go GOP
This is a barb to Green County Fall Nationals Truck and Tractor Pull for distributing 11,000 pounds of food to one food pantry, when so many pantries need help. It should have been divided among others. The money earned from the event is not just from that area and there are many sponsors from all over. Also, two or three people should not decide what the money should be used for. Think about this. This is the second year this has happened. - Disgusted Citizen
A big blossom to Charles Dearth Buick GMC dealership and salesman Mike Foulker who sold me my new Lacrosse CXL. He explained everything very thoroughly. A big blossom to Vinnie Duecker and the rest of them who work in service and parts. I would highly recommend sales and service, Vinnie Duecker, owner Charles Death and Brian Rach. They do a very good job and stand behind their work and service. - Allen J. Schroeder
Family Promise of Green County would like to send out blossoms to Ace Hardware, Farm & Fleet, Piggy Wiggly Bakery, Monroe Clinic and Shopko in support of our Farmer's Market stand to raise money to help shelter and support the homeless in Green County. Big thank you! - Dawn Dischler, Family Promise of Green County
