Blossoms & Barbs: March 9, 2013

This blossom is long overdue, but MHS Madrigal Singers and director Judy Bennett are too deserving to go unacknowledged for their performances at UW Hospital during the holiday season. Their beautiful voices, heartfelt songs, and festive costumes certainly brightened the sterile hallways for all within earshot. Thank you for touching my heart, soul, and body with an unforgettable Christmas blessing during some difficult days as a cancer patient. We were so proud of you. - Marcia and Doc Davis

A barb against public prayer. Despite what Will Miller states in his letter, religion, including prayer, has no place in government, politics and the public. Religion belongs in the homes and the religious institutions of those interested in it. Religion in government, politics and the public is a clear violation of freedom of religion, which also means freedom from religion, and the Jeffersonian principle of separation of church and state. - Dave Searles
