Blossoms & Barbs: March 16, 2013

A barb to residents who involve police in ridiculous matters. Recently, the Police Blotter has reflected issues like snow-related disputes, harassing text messages and disagreements between teen-age sisters. No one was cited or arrested. Calling the police to resolve these frivolous matters is a waste of taxpayer money and an embarrassment to the role the police play in our society. Please give police the respect they deserve to resolve real issues that affect Monroe. - Teri Hartwig

A blossom to Richard "Hook" Fernstaedt for recently reaching his 18th gallon of blood donation with the Red Cross. You inspire other donors to keep giving. And maybe, just maybe, two or three high school students will read this and they will start their lifetime of blood donation. Congratulations Hook. - Fellow 12-gallon donor
