A big blossom to Behring Senior Center. It's a great place. There are so many activities to do: a fitness exercise class, cards, dancing class. Almost anything a senior wants to do. It's very clean and all volunteers are very friendly when you walk in the door. A big blossom to Tammy Derrickson and Jocelyn Kline for doing a great job for us seniors.

A barb to Go GOP. I would like to know when Social Security became welfare as they stated. The people who get Social Security worked and paid into it all their life while they were working. If they cut Social Security, where are these people supposed to live? Some are not lucky enough to get a pension. Do you want to put them out on the street? So please get your facts straight. Social Security and Medicare are not a welfare program; people pay for the Medicare insurance every month. That is just not given to them. - Carol

A huge blossom to Judge Thomas Vale for a very moving and accurate Memorial Day service address. He spoke of the real heroes in our world, who gave everything they had so the majority of Green County could sleep in on Memorial Day and not even give our veterans one hour of their important time. The few hundred attending the Memorial Day observance heard what a real hero is, and not the false heroes that the majority of Green County residents worship. Those who win the latest championship, the last "Dancing With The Stars," the last "American Idol," or make the political news for their stand on a particular partisan issue are not heroes. They are celebrities who never shed a drop of blood, but rather make fortunes by making people worship them. It is too bad that the people who needed to hear the speech were not there. Judge Vale, I salute you. - William H. Holland HM2 USN/FMF

A bouquet of blossoms to members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Monroe, for delivering thank-you baskets to area veterans. Fortunately the tide has turned and is focused on making sure all veterans are thanked for their service. Vietnam era vets are slowly learning to accept these long overdue thanks. The beautifully presented gift basket to a Vietnam vet meant so much more than thank you ... - Anonymous

A barb against those that support the carry law. The Second Amendment states "well regulated militia." It does not state that paranoid handgun nuts have a right to carry. - Dave Searles

Family Promise of Green County would like send out blossoms to Papa Murphy's for their wonderful fund raising event and to Monroe Super 8 for their sponsorship. The money raised will help fund shelter and support for homeless families in Green County. Thank you to everyone that supported this event! - Dawn Dischler, Family Promise of Green County Secretary
