Blossoms & Barbs: July 31, 2010

A huge blossom to Country View Transport and owners Mike and Billy Gilbertson for transporting residents of Pleasant View and Monroe Manor at no charge to the Green County Fair. What a delightful time the resident's had and the smiles on their faces, priceless. A huge blossom to Mike and his staff for making memories. - Residents and staff

This is a huge thorny barb to whoever is responsible for taking my son's bike off of our deck, the night of July 27. I am on a limited income and cannot afford to buy my son a new bike, and I would really like it if you would return it, please. If you want your bike back that you left as a trade-in for his. You can find it at the police station. I guess you needed an upgrade, too bad my son now has to go without. - Lori Wild

A barb to the Monroe Times for the awful (or should I say lack of) coverage of the Green County Fair! The fair is one of the biggest events in the county and there has been almost no coverage. I live out of town but like to follow the week's events- shame on you for not highlighting the good things the kids of the county are doing! - Out of towner

I would like to extend a huge barb (or several) to the insensitive clod that found it necessary to rip the four nice buds off of my brugmansia plant on display at the Green County Fair. This was done sometime between Wednesday afternoon and Friday noon. I hope it gave you immense pleasure doing that. I was looking forward to those blooms opening in a couple of weeks. Now I will have to wait at least a couple of months for it to set more buds. Thanks. You should be so proud. - Anna Zettle
