A blossom to the Brooke Bauman, Sara Conway, and Tyler Schultz for running for City Council. It is so great to see the younger generation taking an interest in the future of Monroe. It will be nice to have the working class represented by individuals with so much energy and passion for the city they live in. These three understand what it is like to be in the workforce in the current state the economy is in. They are not like some of the elder alders who were in the workforce and raised their families when the economy was good. They understand the struggles that many of our citizens are facing. I applaud the aldermen who have represented those wards up until now because I am sure it is not an easy job, but let's give someone else a chance. I know I am excited for what the future holds for Monroe when these three are elected. To those that live in the wards, these three are running in, be sure to vote and if you aren't registered to vote, please do. - Couldn't be happier

A blossom to the residents of Monroe: I would like to share a true story about the high level of character with the people of your town, Monroe. For generations, our family have taken Sunday afternoon drives to Monroe for a Baumgartner's cheese sandwich. Last September, stepping out of the car, I dropped my diamond engagement ring from my lap to the ground in the parking area of the Square. Having been married for 34 years and the diamond coming from my grandmother's engagement ring, this ring had significant meaning. The ring was brought to the store in front of where we parked from a woman who found it getting out of her car a few days later. Leaving the ring with the store, the owner then turned it over to the police department. I did not know where I had lost my ring that day. After weeks of going through the car, house and closets, I came to the conclusion: It was gone.
After the holidays, I called The Monroe Times for one last effort in finding my ring. Thinking of placing a lost diamond ring and searching for a found ring ad, it was suggested I call the police department. So I did and guess what? They had my ring! I was overwhelmed knowing I was getting my ring back. The feeling of a finders-keepers will never be as good as how one feels getting something back that is so important to a family. I will always remember your honesty, act of kindness and high level of character the people of Monroe share. The best thing I can do is to pay forward and pass the same action to others. Thank you for allowing me to share my experience with you and for giving confidence back to the fact that there are good people in this world. - Anonymous

Green Haven Family Advocates would like to send a blossom to Sunbeam, who hosted a toy drive during the holidays. Your thoughtfulness and generosity brought smiles to many needy children this season. We are so grateful for your help.
Also, a huge blossom to those who supported us during this year's "Festival of Trees" fundraiser. This community's support is incredible and we appreciate your generosity. Thanks all of you!
And a giant blossom to everyone is Green County. What a great place to live and do business. Our annual "The Giving Tree" that was located at Pick 'N Save, Curves and the YMCA was an incredible success. We received a wonderful outpouring from the community to help our less fortunate clients and their children. Many, many thanks to you! - Green Haven Family Advocates

A barb to Dan Wegmueller. I enjoyed reading about his trip to Alaska and back. I was shocked to read about his attack on the University of Wisconsin. It is not the job of the professors to push for or advocate a certain cause. It is their job to challenge, inspire, and motivate their students. To think. That is what makes the U.S.A. great. In Dan's case it appears they were highly successful. It is too bad Dan does not realize what a great education he received at the U.W. Go Badgers. - Archie Myers

The Green County Food Pantry would like to give a huge blossom to all the individuals, organization, businesses, and schools helped in donating food and/or money during the holiday season. It was greatly appreciated, not only by the pantry, but by those who received the food. It would not have been possibly without your generous support. The pantry is located at 1015 15th Ave., Monroe. Nonperishable food items and/or money may be brought to the pantry any time or you may call Maynard Heins (325-3373). Again, thank you for your support during this time when so many are in need of food. - Maynard Heins

I would like to give a huge blossom to Dearth Motors Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep. Recently, I was involved in a car accident and salesman Tim Kubly and service manager Craig Krueger were there to help me out even though they didn't have to and, on top of that, it was after hours. These days it is hard to find a car dealership that really cares about their customers and takes care of them. Dearth Motors has never let me down and really seems to care about me. This customer loyalty is the reason why my family will continue to choose Dearth Motors. Thanks! - Jamie Fuchs

A huge blossom to Thomas Paine who published the pamphlet "Common Sense" in 1776. This entire nations needs a mega dose of common sense. The Paine pamphlet should be required reading for all, especially those who represent us in all levels of government. - One who reads and votes
