A big blossom to Joe Schwarzenberger, who after the big blizzard, brought his tractor and snow blower to make a path for people to get in and out of their homes while the township was busy with other work. - Thankful neighbors

A blossom to the fellow who sang "The Star Spangled Banner" before the Rose Bowl game. It was perfect. A barb to whoever hired the gal to sing the same song for the Super Bowl. What a contrast. I'm not a singer, but I do think I could have done a better job. I hope the next time they can find someone who knows the words to the song. - Don

I'd like to send many blossoms to those people who, by phone, were able to make the night of the "big blizzard" one that I could get through while remaining - for the most part - in my home. I had gone to bed feeling fine and was awakened by my dog around 2:30 am. Out he went and all was well until he continued waking me about every half-hour. I realized I was feeling sicker each time, with a headache, sore throat and nausea. I also realized the gas furnace in my house wasn't running properly and the temperature had gone down to 49 degrees. I called the Monroe Clinic ER and spoke with Becky - a nurse who confirmed by suspicion that my symptoms could be that of carbon monoxide poisoning and suggested I leave my house, as well as giving me other advice.
I then - thinking I had the number of Erickson Plumbing and Heating - called a very kind lady named Delores several times in the early morning hours, and instead of getting upset, she was more than willing to help. I finally obtained an emergency number to Erickson's, where I spoke with Brett and within minutes, he was able to solve my problem. My heating vents had become covered with snow and once I cleared the snow away, the furnace heated properly again.
I'd also like to thank "Don, the snowplow guy" and my son-in-law Nolan for their help clearing the snow from the driveway and sidewalk. Forgive me if I have any of your names wrong and once again, thank you. - Margo Klassy

A blossom to the unknown snowplower who cleaned out our driveway after the blizzard on Wednesday. We left home in the morning after having cleaned out just enough snow to get our car out and were anticipating several hours of work when we got home. When we got home that evening, we found that someone had plowed out our driveway. Thank you. - Jim and Olga Beer
