Blossoms & Barbs: Dec. 4, 2010

A blossom to Mrs. Kvam and the rest of the staff at the Abraham Lincoln School for the great job they did at the children's Winter Concert recently held at the PAC. It was a joy to see our child up on stage singing out so freely and bouncing to the rhythm of the songs. Everyone did such a good job. We have never had the pleasure to see a school program since the grade school our daughter went to did not do those types of concerts. We enjoyed this and appreciate all the hard work that goes into making this happen. It put everyone in the holiday spirit. Special thank you to all the other teachers and support staff who willingly helped out behind the scenes too. Thank you and we look forward to the next one. - Jim and Jean Sinkule

A huge holiday blossom to Abe Lincoln PTO, faculty, Mrs. Kvam, and all others involved in the this year's Christmas program. Thank you for helping create great family moments. Also a blossom for the best behaved children I have ever seen. Everyone did great. Our fave was Zum Gali Gali. - Laura Winters

Huge blossoms to the faculty of Monroe High School and the Monroe Volunteer Firefighters, Chief and Assistant Chief for the countless hours they volunteered last weekend at Monsignor Campion's visitation and funeral. The help parking, having the doors opened and faculty in suits greeting us in the M Room made the setting seem so much more personal. And, should the naysayers decide to criticize, I have it on good authority that they all came forward and offered to do this and were not paid for their time. What a fitting tribute to the man who taught so many of us the true spirit of volunteerism. - Lori VanNatta

A blossom to all the people that helpedmake the Monroe Noon Optimist Santa reception which was held last Friday evening at WI Community Bank a success. Thanks to the Monroe Theatre Guild Sr. Choir and Cindy Blanc for all the Christmas carols. Your gift of music certainly put us all in the holiday mood. Thanks also go out to WI Community Bank, Colony Brands and Nancy Faith, Mary Soddy of Creative Photography. And we could never forget to thank Mrs. Claus and Santa Claus. I believe this was a fun and free event for families to take part in and get in the holiday spirit. Thank you.

- Jean Sinkule, Monroe Noon Optimist
