The Supreme Court of the State of Wisconsin has designated September to be Juror Appreciation Month for the State of Wisconsin. In recognition of this proclamation, we would like to extend our thanks and a great big blossom to the citizens of Green County who have performed their civic duty by reporting to jury service >this past year. Without their cooperation and dedicated service the Judicial System in Green County could not perform its duties. The Courts of Green County are proud of the fact that there is seldom a juror in Green County who has been summoned that does not appear to perform his or her civic duty. We thank all the citizens of Green County for your dedication. - Carol K. Thompson, clerk of circuit court; James R. Beer, circuit court judge>

A barb to the Monroe Times >for saying that one of the horses in the motorcycle and buggy accident today (Monday, Aug. 25) "had to be destroyed." A horse is not something you destroy like an old, useless couch. They are animals and deserved to be talked about with dignity. The term that I would've personally used would've been euthanized or put down. It just makes me sick to read that a horse had to be "destroyed." - Leaora >

A special blossom to those of you who take the time to visit the confined people in the nursing homes. >It is especially appreciated by those who look at four walls most of the week. As a husband of one who is confined, I know how much these visits mean. Thank you. - Robert Stauffer, Monroe>

A blossom to Schultz Pharmacy of Monroe >for keeping its prices low and its level of service high. While on vacation, I had to refill one of my Schultz Pharmacy prescriptions at a large national chain pharmacy and their price was over $150 higher! Schultz has always given me reasonable prices and great service. I feel lucky to have them serving us here in Monroe. - Dr. Scott Patterson, Monroe>

A huge blue and red bouquet of blossoms to many individuals at The Monroe Clinic. >The past month, I had been having some dizzy spells and chest pains and a few other things I could not explain. The first blossom I want to give out is to my sister-in-law Tiff, >for coming in on her night off in the ER to explain what was going on. But, my biggest blossom goes to the Cardiology Department. >The staff and specialists up there were AWESOME. I do not remember all of their names and don't want to single them out anyhow, but I do want to thank them for everything they did and for telling me step by step what was going on. Thank you very much!

A blossom to The Monroe Times Editor Jeff Rogers,> for allowing the candidates in the 80th District Assembly race to be able to continue to write their columns and for giving the voters a place to voice their opinions or to challenge the candidates.

A blossom to Sheila and her staff at Behr Salvage >for not only tolerating me not knowing the difference between aluminum and steel cans, but for helping the Fire School with vehicles to practice their skills with. And, although I don't really think she makes the cookies fresh every day, they are pretty good. Keep up the good work out there everyone!

A blossom to all the firefighters in the surrounding area >who attended Fire School here in Monroe, not only for protecting us and for honing their skills, but for supporting our local business while you were here. Also, a blossom to the community for hosting the Fire School >again. I hear year after year nothing but good comments. Once again, Monroe and Green County residents step up to the plate and show why this is truly one of the best places around.

A blossom to all the bus drivers, teachers, crossing guards and school employees >who will be educating our children again soon. With school starting again in just a few days, make sure we are all watching for the kids getting on and off buses and crossing the road and getting dropped off in front of the schools. Have a good year and make it safe!

And I think I will close out my blossoms this week with a truckload of blossoms to the best mom in the world. >Thank you for your words of encouragement, your much-needed advice and everything you have done for me over the years. Happy Birthday! - Jeff Ditzenberger, Monticello>
