A blossom to Arlene Huffman of Monroe for her letter to the editor on May 6 about the illegals in this country. What she wrote is certainly true. - Harold Huntington, Darlington

A HUGE blossom to Sgt. Brit Gempler of the Green County Sheriff's Deparment for helping me locate my errant, Boston Terrier named Hali in our NE-side neighborhood. She rambunctiously escaped my grasp when going outside to do her business. Sgt. Gempler"s willingness to help out and his keen eyes saved me from searching high and low for her. What a wonderful example he is of both our local, law enforcement agencies and our neighborly solidarity.

A barb to the City of Monroe and the Main Street Project. We would think that for all the money spent on this project, we would expect more than 50 gallon barrels as stop sign anchors. - Ernie Beutel, Monroe

A big blossom to the street vendor who reported to the smoking SUV in Times Square that probably saved many lives in New York. It is because of people like him and the others who reported what they saw that this plot was foiled. - Happy observer

A barb to the rainy spring weather. It has postponed all of our Monroe high school sports events. We can't even get a good track practice in because the track and field area is all wet most of the time. Why can't we have April's weather back? - Anxious to compete

A blossom to the President Obama for appointing another female nominee. That'll make three women on the U.S. Supreme Court, but more importantly to why she is a good pick is her background. Elena Kagan will be perfect for the Supreme Court because she has "real world" experience. Something that can't be said for the career judges currently on the bench. The U.S. Senate must approve Kagan to get some real life sensiblities on the Supreme Court. - Harvard grad
