A thank you to Loaves and Fishes

To the editor:

I would like to thank our Loaves and Fishes Community Meal at Grace Lutheran Church for serving a Thanksgiving meal Sunday, Nov. 25. It was a feast to behold, turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon (who doesn't love bacon), rolls and beverages. What I have found, to my delight, was that the number of times I have enjoyed the monthly meals (always the last Sunday of the month) is the fellowship. I am greeted by cheerful people who have taken an interest in their community to volunteer their time to help with the cooking and serving the people who enter the Church's door. I try to sit with people who I haven't met before so I can hear their wonderful stories of how they grew up in this wonderful town and what they have overcome. I am thankful for St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 2810 Sixth St., Monroe, for welcoming me into their congregation. I would have never been aware of Loaves and Fishes had I not walked through the red doors. I am thankful for The Rev. Brian E. Backstrand, Vicar and his wife Marilee who welcome each of us every Sunday. I invite you to come with me and enjoy our wonderful church and the fellowship within.
