Questions for candidates

Less than a month remains until the Nov. 4 general election. And while most of the focus is on the presidential election, local races should command your attention, as well.

The 80th District Assembly race is certain to be close, as Republican Rep. Brett Davis seeks his third term but will be challenged by Monroe resident John Waelti and a state Democratic Party targeting the district in its attempt to gain control of the Assembly.

Freshman Rep. Steve Hilgenberg, D-Dodgeville, is receiving a challenge in the 51st Assembly District from Sauk City Republican Nathan Russell.

And in the 2nd Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, is being opposed by Madison Republican Peter Theron.

Soon, the Times will begin working on a series of pre-election stories on the candidates positions on key issues, as well as inviting the candidates in for endorsement interviews with our editorial board.

My question to you is, what are the key issues to you in these legislative races? And what questions would you like us to ask the candidates?
