Monroe Alderman Charles Koch addressed the attire of City Council members during their meeting Tuesday night. He thinks council members should dress up a little more than they are when they attend public meetings.
"I have been disparaged and complimented for the way I dress for a council meeting," Koch said in a written statement he read to the council. Koch occasionally wears a suit to meetings. In the past, some council members have worn T-shirts, shorts, sweatsuits and jeans to meetings.
"I feel it is an honor and a privilege to represent the citizens of the Fifth Ward and I do not feel shorts and T-shirt is adequate attire to show the respect that they deserve," Koch said.
So today's question is: Does it matter to you what Monroe City Council members - or any member of any public board, for that matter - wear to public meetings?
