Some conservative pundits and politicians have called for parents to keep their children home from school Tuesday, when President Barack Obama is scheduled to give a back-to-school address to the nations students.
None of the local school districts our correspondent, Mary Jane Grenzow, talked to on Friday will be requiring students to watch the address. Theyre leaving it up to teachers to decide whether to have students watch the speech live, later, or at all. Monroe district Superintendent Larry Brown said Friday morning that seven or eight parents had called him, and appreciated being able to opt their children out of watching the presidents speech.
My question today is: Is it alright for parents to keep their kids out of school so they dont have to watch President Obamas speech?
